What To Do With Your New iPad

Congratulations! You now have an iPad, either because you bought it with a month’s salary or by selling an used iPad. But wait, before you do anything, you must make sure that you know how to use it. Here are the things you have to know first to set up your iPad.

What to Do First

After you take it out of its box, plug it into your computer with iTunes. Your screen will show a message welcoming you to your new iPad. However, if it does not show, don’t worry, you just have not yet downloaded iTunes 9.1., which is the latest version. If you do not have this version, your iPad will just charge.

Click continue to start the setting up and just accept the license agreement. Sign in to iTunes. Click “Set up as a new iPad” and then continue.

Syncing

I suggest that you do not sync any apps that are connected to camera and GPS because they are of no use on your iPad. If you want those kinds of apps, better sell your iPad and get an iPhone instead. Do not sync apps that have HD versions, either, because they will eat up a lot of memory space.

You should sync media manually so that you can be careful of which ones will eat your storage space. You can just autofill your songs from playlists or just drag them one by one from your iTunes library. The same goes for videos.

Preparing Your iPad

Now, you can get dirty with your new iPad. You can do almost anything with it starting now. But if you want to do it right, then here are some things to do first.

Navigate to Settings and choose the Wi-Fi connection of your choice. Add your e-mail account by tapping “Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.” Type in your data.

You can change your wallpaper. Navigate to “Brightness & Wallpaper” in the Settings, then choose a wallpaper. Set it to either home screen, lock screen or both.

The Apps

You can browse some apps to download in the iTunes store, either on your computer or on your iPad itself. There are some apps that are for free while some cost a lot. Just choose the apps that you think you really need. Think about the storage space of your new iPad.

The iBooks app is very efficient for reading materials you purchased. GoodReader is also good for readers, but you have to pay $1. It lets you view PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets and many more files from your computer to your iPad. This app will let you look through files with maneuvers very distinct to iOS.

There are many other apps to choose from; either you are a reader or a game player. You will surely enjoy the apps there as long as you choose wisely. You will also enjoy them more if you use the new iPad because of its Retina Display technology which promises a better gaming experience. If you are a reader, you will benefit from it too because the texts are now crisper and clearer. So sell your old iPad now and buy a new one!
